Duration: 2 years This course is for those who wish to work in the health or care sectors or to access university. The course requires you to undertake a range of work placements over two years',' and will allow you to begin to develop the skills and qualities needed to become a care professional in roles such as nursing',' midwifery',' physiotherapy',' occupational therapy',' paramedic training and health and social care work. This practical course combines work placements with class-based sessions. You will study 13 units over two years. Among the topics you will cover are: - Human life span development - Working in Health and Social Care - Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Social Care - Enquires into current research in Health and Social Care Please note that two units per year are assessed by an online examination taken under exam conditions. There is a wide variety of optional units in the second year of the study programme. Entry Requirements: Extended Diploma Five GCSEs A*-C Grade',' must include English and Maths Foundation Diploma (1 year programme',' worth approx. half of the Extended Diploma. To be discussed at interview) Four GCSEs A*-C Grade must include English and Maths OR Level 2 Diploma at merit',' with at least Functional Skills level 2 in Maths/English You will attend an interview and need to demonstrate an aptitude for working with vulnerable people. Your DBS check results could affect your offer of a place on the course. Career Options: Progress into either work or higher education courses in nursing',' midwifery',' probation',' counselling and social work.
