Students choosing mathematics in the Sixth Form are taught the Edexcel specification. In year 12, students take Core 1 and Core 2 as their pure modules, and Statistics 1 as their applied module. In year 13, Core 3 and Core 4 are taught as well as Mechanics 1. These six modules make up a full A-level in Mathematics. Each module is examanied at the end of the year that it is taught. Further Maths is also offered alongside Mathematics and students choosing this option will take Further Pure 1 and either Further Pure 2 or 3, Decision Maths 1 and 2, Statistics 2 and Mechanics 2. From September 2017, new linear A-levels in Mathematics and Further Mathematics will be introduced. Syllabuses for these new specifications are expected to be published by Autumn 2016. In Years 12 and 13 students are encouraged to join in various maths challenges and to support other students. In particular, Year 12 students support regularly in lessons once a week.
