The course taught is a combination if coursework, practical exploration and one final written exam in Year 13. The course enables students to develop their skills as a director, actor and critic. At Year 12 students will have the opportunity to perform a group piece and monologue or duologue to an audience. Students will explore a play text practically and will support their practical finding with a written documentary response. In Year 13 students are able to extend their skills further and apply their understanding from the first year's exploration, through creating their own devised performance in small groups. Their final assessment is in the form of a written exam requiring them to study one set play and one prescribed historical period of theatrical development. All coursework is carried out in controlled conditions.
