If you're inspired by fashion, theatrical costume or interior design, Textiles at A Level will provide you with the specialised knowledge and skills to go on and study Textiles products at university. The theory component of this course focuses on materials, components, fabric properties, fibre classification and smart materials. You will also study the history of design, the role of the designer, and ethical and moral design. You will design and manufacture a Textiles product, whilst developing creative and technical skills such as pattern drafting and tailoring. The course is split into 4 units. Units 1 and 2 are studied at AS level and units 3 and 4 at A2. Unit 1: Materials, Components and Application, Unit 2: Learning Through Designing and Making, Unit 3: Design and Manufacture, Unit 4: Design and Making Practice.
