A Level Music focuses on enhancing students’ Performing, Composing, Listening and Analysing skills. Lessons focus on building prior knowledge and encouraging creativity and a musical identity. A Level classes offer opportunities to explore the ‘nuts and bolts’ of music – score reading, harmony and detailed musical analysis, whilst also taking in students’ own musical tastes and interests. Students are expected to work both independently as well as under the supervision of their teachers (class and instrumental) to build up a portfolio of composition and performance repertoire.
