Jewellery Making Beginners

This course will provide you with the skills to produce a number of finished jewellery items using precious and non-precious metals. Techniques you will learn include saw piercing, soldering, texturing, finishing and polishing. You will also develop design skills. You will learn and develop jewellery-making skills and techniques. The course will provide you with an underpinning knowledge of the creative art and craft process and a base from which to progress to study in this subject at a higher level. This is a practical course. You will learn through: tutor demonstration and presentation, independent practical activities, research to develop ideas and knowledge, and by producing a portfolio of evidence. The tutor will give you verbal feedback during each lesson and written feedback at regular intervals.Throughout the course you will discuss with your tutor what you want to achieve and record it on your individual Student plan (ILP). You will decide with your tutor how long it will take to achieve your goal. This is an engagement course. This course will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to progress to a higher level of study within this or other art & craft disciplines or you may want to broaden your skills.
