Preparing to Work in Adult Health and Social Care Level 1

This Level 1 programme of learning is aimed at those who want to work in the health and social care sector. It will provide you with the basic care knowledge and skills, confidence, English skills and employability skills required to give you the best chances of employment. You will be studying: City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, Introduction to the adult social care sector, Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care. Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care, Awareness of communication in adult social care, Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the adult social care work, English and maths skills, Level 2 Award in Food Safety, Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work, Manual Handling Awareness, Health and Safety at Work Awareness. This programme runs for 15 weeks, two and a half days each week and regular attendance at each session within your programme is a requirement. This course aims to help you to gain an insight into the Health and Social Care sector and to become aware of the specific skills and understanding you will need to gain employment in this area. By studying this programme you will gain personal, a sector based qualification and practical skills and English skills that will support your employment and progression in this career path. Classes will include a variety of activities such as taught sessions and discussion, workshops, role play, research and individual assessments. You will be expected to attend regularly between the start and end dates of each term. Your Tutor and or Assessor will be on hand to support you throughout the course. Assessment during this programme is by a variety of activities; portfolio work for the adult social care qualification, practical tasks and multiple choice exam for First Aid and Food Safety and exam for English if this is appropriate for you.
