This course is designed to enable you to think critically about some classic and groundbreaking research in Psychology. Each one seeking the answer to a specific problem, such as What makes prisons brutal places? Is it possible to tell who is abnormal and who is not? Can we teach an ape language? How can we tell if someone is dreaming or not? What factors affect the development of children? Do regular gamblers think differently while they are gambling than non-regular gamblers do? You will also have the chance to learn about the methods that Psychologists use when they investigate behaviour and you will have the chance to plan and carry out some investigations yourself.
