The methods of analysis appropriate to the fields of English language/linguistics underpin all the elements of the specification, and these are applied to distinctive topic areas. The topics and titles of the course include: 'Language and the Individual', focusing on individual contexts for language, and 'Language Varieties', working outwards to consider larger-scale public discourses about variety. At A Level, English Language offers opportunities for students to develop their subject expertise by engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts and discourses.
