Politics is a course that allows students to gain an insight into the processes by which political decisions are made and the forces that drive them. A-level Politics is a good choice for students considering a career in the professions, or those who simply want to understand how the world works. A-level Politics will follow the AQA specification. The course consists of 3 units, covering; 1. Government and politics of the UK –the UK constitution, the role of Parliament, elections and referendums, political parties and the European Union. 2. Political ideas –different ideologies such as socialism, conservatism and liberalism. 3. Comparative politics –analysing key similarities and differences between the USA and UK political systems. Assessment is by end of Year Examination
