Aspire is designed for young people aged 16-24, with severe learning difficulties (working at Entry Level one and two), who want to develop independence and employability skills at college. The aim of the programme is to promote confidence, self-esteem, social and communication skills in preparation for adulthood. Learning support assistants will meet and greet you on arrival each day, and stay with the group all day - including for breaks and lunch. The timetable runs from 9-2.30pm, four days a week and includes: independent living skills; communication and self-expression; enterprise and employability; enrichment, English, maths and ICT. You will learn through a variety of physical activity, participation, work experience and academic study. ?Maths ?English ?ICT ?Drama and Communication ?Independent Living Skills ?Enrichment ?The Snack Packs and Confectionery Enterprise ?The second-hand book and DVD enterprise If it's appropriate you will undertake a work experience placement for a minimum of 30 hours during the year. Relevant placements are sourced that meet your interests and offer an appropriate level of support according to individual needs. You will be accompanied to interviews, receive job coaching and travel training, if needed. You will also participate in enterprise projects where they work in teams to develop products and services.
