This QAA recognised Access to HE programme is designed for adults seeking entry to degrees (including Foundation level) in Childhood Studies, Primary Teaching and Early Years but who lack the qualifications or confidence for direct entry. The focus is on developing academic skills through the exploration of three specialist subjects. The development and strengthening of English and maths skills underpins the programme. By providing a supportive and inclusive environment, the Access to HE programme also provides the opportunity for students to develop their confidence and realistically appraise their professional opportunities. Topics of study include: ?Teaching theory ?Teaching practice ?Teaching in context (aspects of biology, psychology and literature) ?Application of number ?HE English skills This Diploma demands work experience in a primary educational setting. For students not already in work, the college can support with finding a placement.
