If you are interested in working backstage in theatre, events and concerts this is the programme for you. You'll gain both the technical and creative skills required for progression onto a higher education or to begin your career within the industry. Lessons and workshops will take place in our purpose built lighting studio and 300 seat theatre, which are equipped to current industry standards Topics of study include: ?Scenic construction for the stage ?Working freelance in the performance and production arts ?Stage lighting operations ?Live sound for the stage ?Events management ?Stage management ?Performing arts in historical context ?Performing arts business You will be encouraged to undertake professional work experience both as a group and individually. You may find yourself working on external shows and events as part of your learning experience as well as in our own theatre. You will also be visiting theatres, masterclasses and concerts to observe professional practice. We have established some great links with industry and students in this past have undertaken work experience backstage at West End shows and musicals. You will also undertake residencies at the National Student Drama Festival in Scarborough.
