This programme is part of foundation learning and allows learners to discover and develop skills in caring for a child. It will support the learner in preparing for their next steps continuing their education, training or preparing to gain a job in the work place. This course does not result in a professional qualification. All learners will also participate in English and maths studies as part of their core curriculum and may be required to sit examinations for functional skills. Students will be required to undertake 35 hours of supported experience across the academic year. Topics of study include: ?Children's play and leisure activities in the community ?Eating healthily ?Play and learning in the home ?Eating healthily ?Confidence building for the young child through play ?Listening to and talking with a young child Students will be required to undertake 35 hours of supported experience across the academic year. This may include group visits to nurseries and other childcare settings or guest speakers coming into college. Students will be eligible to undertake extra curricular trips.
