UPDATED 20161020 11:53:55

If you're looking for a career that will give you the opportunity to care for others and make a positive difference to people's lives, our Health and Social Care programmes could give you the underpinning skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this rewarding industry. Our level 1 programme will introduce you to the skills that are essential to effectively care for children, young people and the elderly. Every year we hold a 'speed meeting' event where professionals from within the industry, such as social workers, anti-social behaviour officers and the police, give an insight to their careers. Health and Social Care students also had the opportunity to work with Hertfordshire County Council to deliver a campaign across the region based on substance misuse and sexual health this year. Topics of study include: ?Individuals' needs ?Creative activities for children ?Communication with adults and children in health and social care ?Investigating rights and responsibilities at work ?Learning experiences for children and young people On our health and social care programmes you will get practical work experience to complement the theory that you learn. You will undertake 33 hours of supported experience across the academic year. This may include group visits to care homes, hospitals or other health and social care settings, or guest speakers visiting college. We place a huge level of importance on securing beneficial work experience for our students, which allows them to learn in a new environment and put the skills they have gained at college into practice.
