Within Travel and Tourism there are three different courses that are offered, these are BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma (1 A-level), BTEC Diploma (2 A-Levels) and BTEC National Extended Diploma (3-A-levels). The assessment type for all of Travel qualifications offered requires the learners to complete coursework. If the students are studying the Subsidiary qualification they will do six units, for the Diploma they will need to complete twelve units of work and for the Extended Diploma the students will study eighteen units. There are a number of different units that the learners will study over the two years, these include Investigating the Travel and Tourism Industry, The Business of the Travel and Tourism, UK as a Destination, Customer Services in Travel and Tourism, Marketing in Travel and Tourism, Employment in the Travel and Tourism Industry, European Travel Destinations, Long Haul Travel Destinations, Retail Travel Operations, Business Travel Operations, Responsible Tourism, Tour Operations and Specialist Tourism. For Learners studying the qualification it helps them to become ready to take up employment in the travel and tourism sector or it is ideal for students to follow the Higher Education route. By studying a BTEC National, learners develop knowledge, understanding and skills required by the sector, including essential employability skills, and apply them in real work contexts.
