Physics is around us all the time and is studied in depth at A level. The A level course is a course that builds on the physics GCSE content. To summarise: The A-level course comprises of main components: Mechanics and materials (first year) Particles and radiation (first year) Waves and optics (first year) Electricity (first year) Further mechanics and thermal physics (second year) Fields (second year) Nuclear physics (second year) Option topic (Astrophysics, medical physics or engineering physics) (second year) Practical Skills. These are taught and assessed throughout the two year course. To ensure that your students are rewarded for the physics skills and knowledge they've developed, our exams include: - specified content tested in each of the first two papers at A-level to help students prepare for their exams - a variety of assessment styles within each paper so students can confidently engage with the questions - multiple choice questions are included to allow for a wide breadth of Physics from the specifications to be tested. The careers and courses that students who study A level physics are wide and varied including, engineering, medicine, astrophysics, accountancy. It is a subject that opens many doors! The minimum entrance requirements are Bs in maths, English and additional science/physics GCSE. The course blends well with maths and chemistry although it can stand alone.
