AS Level: • Students study two Pure Mathematics modules as well as a Statistics module. • The two modules in Pure Mathematics extend students’ knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry as well as introducing new concepts in Calculus and Logarithms. • In the Statistics module, students learn to analyse and summarise numerical data in order to arrive at conclusions about it. Students extend the range of probability problems studied at GCSE to include Bayes’ Theorem and the Normal Distribution. A Level: • Students study a further two Pure Mathematics modules as well as a Mechanics module. • The two modules in Pure Mathematics extend the Algebra, Trigonometry, Logarithms and Calculus studied at AS Level as well as the links between these topics. Students will also study some Numerical Methods, Vectors and Differential Equations. • In Mechanics students describe the motion of objects and analyse how they react to forces acting upon them. There is significant overlap with Physics.
