This qualification attracts equivalent UCAS points to traditional A Levels and sees students develop a wide range of ICT skills together with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the world of IT. Students are encouraged to be discerning users of ICT. Topics covered in unit 1 include: computer hardware and software, understanding business IT systems, ethical and operational issues as well as threats to computer systems. It helps students understand employability and communication skills used in an IT environment . In unit 2 students have the opportunity to study where information is held globally, how it is transmitted and the benefits of information to individuals and organisations. It helps students understand the legal and regulatory framework governing the storage and use of global information and the security of data.
