Certificate in Quantitative Problem Solving (MEI)

UPDATED 20161019 15:01:23

The Quantitative Problem Solving qualification adds a statistical problem solving component to IQR to produce a course which enables students to use a wider range of statistical techniques to solve the kinds of problems which they are likely to encounter in further study, work or life. The qualification is designed for students who have at least grade C in GCSE Mathematics and who would benefit from continuing with some mathematics but who do not need or want to do A level Mathematics.  It will be particularly useful for students studying subjects such as Geography, Business, Chemistry, Biology and Sociology. Students studying Quantitative Problem Solving will be encouraged to tackle problems in realistic contexts that are relevant to their other subjects. Topics covered include modelling, statistics, finance, working with exponentials and gradients, geometry and measures, risk, statistical problem solving, use of technology
