Students of A level English Literature have the opportunity to engage creatively with an exciting and strong body of texts. The course allows students to develop their knowledge of literary analysis and evaluation in speech and writing. They explore the contexts of texts and interpretations of them in their historical setting, and deepen their understanding of the changing traditions of literature in English. The new AS and A level English Literature qualifications have been carefully designed to enrich students' learning, providing them with the expertise to actively explore the world around them using strategies that will also prepare them for the research and study skills required of them in higher education and the workplace. This course provides a strong foundation for students wishing to pursue a career in journalism, advertising, publishing, marketing, public relations, law, medicine and education.
