The qualification is ideal for candidates who wish to develop skills in Moving Image Production as a way to access further study or to make more informed career choices. Moving Image is one of the courses offered at SHIFT. It incorporates many different elements of the filmmaking process and takes the learners from their idea through the pre-production, production, post-production processes before completing a final evaluation of their piece. The course encourages learners to think of all different types of moving image from fiction filmmaking to advertising. Along the way learners develop skills in creative areas such as screenwriting, storyboarding, using the camera and editing suite. In addition, the learners on this course also learn key employability skills like time management, working in a group. Along with their practical vocational work, the moving image qualification also gives learners an insight into the way that the moving image industry functions in terms of job roles and funding. Health and safety is also key within the qualification, giving the learners a greater insight into the industry requirements in the creation of risk assessment paperwork, but also of their own person safety when using different types of filmmaking equipment.
