This QCF qualification is ideal for learners who wish to develop an understanding of basic photographic processes. The qualification will also allow learners to understand how to manipulate images and explore in detail the following areas of photography: ? people ? landscapes ? events ? buildings ? action ? close up images ? abstract images. The objective of this qualification is to support learners to progress onto further qualifications at Level 2 in creative subjects including photography, art and design, craft, animation and moving image production or into employment. The requirement for learners to complete 3 units ensures they gain an in depth introduction to photography. Learners will have the opportunity to explore the use of the camera and the visual results of using basic camera controls and produce exploratory photographs of a chosen subject. They will learn the hardware and software requirements for image manipulation and understand the associated manipulation techniques. They will also have the opportunity to focus on a particular genre of photography eg portrait photography, and identify the skills to select and set up the required equipment to produce images and the health and safety and environmental requirements.
