Course Description and Overview: This course would be suitable for learners looking for a solid foundation in information technology. The objective of this qualification is to give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in information technology systems, systems management and social media in business and programming.

Name: BTEC L3 Double ICT Qualification title: BTEC National Diploma in Business Information Systems Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment How is it assessed and when are the assessments? Students will study 4 mandatory units; Unit 1 – Information Technology Systems Unit 2 – Creating Systems to Manage Information Unit 3 – Using Social Media in Business Unit 4 – Programming Unit 1 and Unit 2 are both externally assessed units. For Unit 1 students are expected to complete a written examination worth 90 marks. Unit 2 is a supervised assessment that is required to be completed in a 1 week window timetabled by Pearsons. The unit is worth 66 marks. Unit 3 and Unit 4 are mandatory units that will be internally assessed by the lead internal verifier. For the remainder of the course 2 internally assessed coursework based units will be offered from the list below: Unit 5- Data Modelling Unit 6- Website Development Unit 7 – Mobile Apps Development Unit 8 – Computer Games Development Where could this subject take me? This qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers.
