Applied ICT has been used as a basis for many of our students to gain places on courses such as Game Design, Web Site Design and ICT Teaching. Applied ICT combines well with almost all other AS and advanced GCE subjects. Taken with Mathematics and Science, it supports applications for almost any Computer based university course. Taken with Languages or Arts it supports a wide range of courses such as Communication, Media, Business and Management, and will support any course taken in Higher Education. The qualification can also be used to go straight into employment, where ICT skills are universally needed by employers. A2 Applied ICT consists of 3 units: 'Working to a brief', 'Interactive multimedia products, and 'Developing and creating websites'. All the units will be assessed using portfolio work and are marked by ICT staff and then moderated by the Exam Board; the first and third units are linked to each other and are based on a scenario which is issued by the Exam Board each year. All portfolio work must be completed by early May to allow marks to be submitted to the Exam Board by their deadline.
