Further Maths is a highly desirable subject for anyone hoping to study a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at university. It is also advantageous to those wanting to study Economics and that students have the mathematical ability to deal with any of the content these courses require. AS Level Further Pure 1 - An introduction to different areas of Pure Maths. The differences between real and imaginary numbers, introductory work on matrices, geometry and algebraic proof. Decision and Discrete Maths 1 (Applicable Maths) - Investigates algorithms that can be used to solve real problems, such as shortest path, and critical path analysis. These are used in business and industry to minimise cost, and maximise profit. Statistics 2- Enhances the Statistics 1 module covering a range of new distributions, including the Binomial and Poisson.
