Name: GCEA2 Computing Qualification title: GCE A Level in Computing Qualification type: Assessment How is it assessed and when are the assessments? The AS and A-Level Computer Science qualifications is built upon the GCSE Computing and emphasises the importance of computational thinking as a discipline. The AS will consist of two components, which will be externally assessed and weighted at 50% each. There is no coursework component. The A-Level will consist of three components, two of which will be externally marked question papers making up 80% of the qualification. The other 20% will be the coursework project, which have greater focus on coding and programming. The course units for the AS Computer Science Qualification are as follows: • computing principles • algorithms and problem solving. The course units for the A-Level Computer Science Qualification are as follows: • computer systems • algorithms and programming Where could this subject take me?
