Physics

UPDATED 20161019 09:59:46

This course builds on material covered at GCSE including waves, motion and electricity, while also introducing new concepts such as particle physics, quantum phenomena and fields. The course is linked to several extra-curricular opportunities. This year some Physics students visited the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland whilst others are designing and building a sub-aquatic craft to travel to the bottom of Wastwater. Through the application of mathematics students will develop excellent problem-solving skills. They will also develop an inquiring mind and be encouraged to plan how to investigate relationships between physical quantities. Students will develop communication skills, making effective use of subject specific terminology in both written and oral communication.
