It is strongly recommended for students considering studying Mathematics in higher education. You need to have achieved at least a grade A at GCSE; and be studying Mathematics as an A Level. Decision Mathematics - When you study decision mathematics you learn about the application of mathematical modelling to solve real world problems. You will study the structure, use and efficiency of algorithms, the use of networks to represent real situations together with critical path analysis, linear programming and simulation. These are all areas of Mathematics which are used in managing commercial and industrial concerns. Numerical Methods - You will develop a repertoire of numerical techniques to apply to mathematical problems and learn to appreciate the limited accuracy of the techniques and ways to control errors. You will also learn to implement these numerical techniques on computers and develop awareness as to the potential difficulties. Contact: hburton@ashlyns.herts.sch.uk
