Students embarking on AS and A Level study in Graphics are expected to have achieved at least grade C in GCSE Graphic Products, Resistant Materials or Systems and Control. Students will be expected to have some further background understanding of issues related to the subject. WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS A LEVEL COURSE? The assessment will test candidates' ability to: - develop and sustain their own innovation, creativity and Design and Technology capability, to recognise constraints and to produce high quality products - develop a critical understanding of the influences of the processes and products of design and technological activity - apply essential knowledge, understanding and skills of design production processes to a range of technological activities and develop an understanding of industrial practices use Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to enhance their design and technological capability - develop an understanding of the social, moral, spiritual and cultural values inherent in design and technological activity and to develop critical evaluation skills in technical, aesthetic, economic, environmental, social and cultural contexts - develop as discerning consumers able to make informed choices; develop positive attitudes of co-operation and citizenship and work collaboratively. The assessment for the A Level course involves examinations and coursework and provides opportunities for developing and generating evidence for assessment in the six key skills.
