In order to be considered for this course, students must achieve a grade B or above in French at GCSE. Students should have a secure knowledge of key tense formations and other key grammatical rules. This course is suitable for students who have a real passion for languages and who are proactively searching opportunities to develop their knowledge of the language. The students should enjoy studying authentic written and multimedia materials. Our aim is to develop further the four skills acquired at GCSE: listening, speaking, reading and writing. During the course, students will explore a range of topics with the emphasis very much on the culture of French-speaking countries. Material for study at both levels is drawn from the following broad topic areas: AS Level Media Popular Culture Healthy Living/Lifestyle Family and Relationships A2 Level Environment The Multicultural Society Contemporary Social Issues Cultural Topic Students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the language and culture of the country/countries where the language is spoken.
