You will be given insights into both Public and Private Sector businesses where you will have the opportunity to learn about a range of local, national and international organisations which focus on a range of business departmental functions including; Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Retail and more. This course will have a number of guest speakers and company visits included where you will hear from some high profile businessmen and women from a variety of sectors/organisations. Students will study Managing a business event - The aim of this unit is to develop student's skills in and knowledge of organising and coordinating a business event. Students will do this through planning, providing support and follow-up activities involved in running a business event. Understanding retail - The aim of this unit is to introduce students to the important role that retailing plays in the UK economy, and how it is the final part of the supply chain, before products and services reach the end customer. Internet marketing - The aim of this unit is to enable students to develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin the reasons business is conducted online with reference not only to the benefits and drawbacks to businesses and customers but also the effects on society at large. The course is assessed through a mixture of internal and external assessment. Assignments or projects, which can be internal or external, are set for each unit that the students will complete. However some units will be assessed through an external exam. All these assessments will be graded as a PASS, MERIT or DISTINCTION.
