Weaving - Beginners

This beginners weaving class is for those who are complete beginners or those who are not yet confident in the basics. , These basics are: follow a simple weaving plan, wind a warp, set up a loom including threading, sleying and tying on, weave a piece of fabric., In this class you will be taught all of the above and have a set weaving project to learn the basics. At the end of this course you should be able to recognise basic weaves, wind a warp, dress a loom and weave with minimal assistance. This course is taught in a well equipped room with both floor and table looms. , , Beginners and those with more experience. This is a course for students interested in yarns, colour and design., It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or another adult please speak to the Programme Manager.

Entry requirements

Scissors, tape measure, ruler and note pad but most weaving equipment is provided. Apart from pens and a note pad please do not buy books or equipment before the start of the course. Details will be discussed at the first session or if necessary your tutor will send a list a week before the course starts. You need to purchase yarns for your own projects.
