Here is an opportunity to decorate your house for Christmas by making two festive seasonal arrangements to decorate your home, an oblong table arrangement and a round door wreath., By the end of the day you should be able to: , •Create two festive Christmas designs using fresh plant materials which may also include artificial materials and festive decoration., •Demonstrate an understanding of how to use the mechanics necessary to achieve the floral designs made., •Show an understanding of the care and conditioning needs of the plant material used., •Demonstrate an ability to incorporate design elements within the arrangements., , Suitable for those new to flower arranging and those with some experience wishing to learn how to plan, cost and produce arrangements for wedding celebrations.

Entry requirements

Students need to provide their own plant material i.e. flowers and foliage, containers, mechanics, floral foam and accessories. Good scissors and secateurs, a notebook and pen, a table covering and a camera/phone for recording your work. , The following will be available to purchase in class - Floral foam, 10" Floral Foam Ring, Rectangular Dish (approx. 23cms(9") x 10cms(4") - the size of a block of foam) , Stub Wires and other basic mechanics., Table Arrangement - rectangular in shape using floral foam and giving consideration to a colour theme. Candle/s, one or more, shape, size and colour of your choice but with some height so they are not sitting in the foliage. Some Cocktail sticks for securing the candles. , Foliage - several different types of various shapes and textures and a selection of flowers such You may wish to add some other items to your design and some suggestions are detailed below., Door Wreath - a 10" Floral Foam Ring. Ribbon. Blue Spruce -(there will be some available to purchase in class) to incorporate into the design with some additional foliages , see suggestions below. Ribbon and Seasonal Decorative Items of your choice - see suggestions below., Foliage Suggestions: with consideration to a variety of shapes and textures:-, Conifer all varieties and colours, Needled Foliages such as Pine/Blue Spruce, Holly (Ilex) variegated and plain with or without berries, beware some hollies are very prickly! Ivy (Hedera helix) - variegated, plain and/or Berried Tree ivy, Eucalyptus, Viburnam Tinus plain flowered or berried. Preserved foliages , Seasonal Decorative Suggestions:, Pine Cones, Walnuts, Berries, Small, artificial Christmas decorations, Christmas baubles, varying sizes not too large, Cinnamon Sticks, Sliced Dried fruit, Gilded seed heads.
