Life Drawing and Portrait - Clothed - Turner Contemporary

This life drawing course is devoted to portrait and (clothed) figure drawing. Various approaches to portrait drawing will be investigated with the focus on individual, one-to-one, tuition. , , Learning outcomes will vary according to each student's individual needs but these will include some of the following:, • Greater confidence in drawing portraits from direct observation, • Ability to use a range of drawing strategies to do with looking, such as: tone, construction, horizontals and verticals, extending the line, negative space, proportions, diagonals and so on., • Ability to use a range of drawing strategies to do with making the lines and marks, such as: mark-making, pace, gesture, aerial perspective, materials, line, marks, contour and so on., • Some consideration of artists' approaches to portrait drawing. , , , , Beginners and those with experience will equally benefit from this course. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.
