Sculpture - March Hare Project

Come along and create your own hare sculptures using wire, willow and papier mâché. During this course we will be focused on sculpture made from materials that have been joined together. Learn all about the elements of sculpture, what they mean and how they translate into your final piece. We will be looking at mass, space, plane, line, movement, texture, colour, relief, scale, purpose, site and cost/ value. You will have the opportunity to explore various small maquette hare forms then creating this into a large piece. You will begin your final piece by learning how to secure an armature (internal framework) secure structure on which to weave, bend and fold your chosen medium and watch your creation take shape. Learning to work to health and safety guidelines., , , , Beginners and those with experience.It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.

Entry requirements

Students have to cover the cost of their own materials and are generally able to purchase these through the centre. The cost will vary according to the scale of the work produced, but the tutor will advise on the approximate costs of each project. Please bring any materials and equipment you have that might be appropriate to the course. All students should bring a sketchbook of at least A4 size, preferably with a hard cover, ring bound and containing good quality cartridge paper and a selection of pencils to the first class.
