Sewing - Learn How to Sew

During the course students will work towards completing a project which will be discussed at the first session. During the class you will learn basic knowledge of sewing in order to attempt other clothes/garments. , , , Students will produce 1or2 simple garments/textile items during the 10 week course. They will learn how to, 1. Lay, pin and cut out garments correctly., 2. To mark construction details from pattern to fabric., 3. To construct darts and plain open seams., The following techniques will also be covered as and when students need them., Zips, inserting sleeves, waistbands, gathering, and hems., Students will need a basic sewing kit to include fabric and paper scissors, pins, needles, tape measure, un-picker and sewing threads. A sewing machine is not essential, as there are some at the centre. It is better if students can bring their own machine to lessons, as this will enable them to get used to using one machine. , students will not need to bring fabric to the first lesson. , , , , , This course is for beginners to sewing who would like to become confident when using a sewing machine, and learn the basics techniques for constructing garments.
