BTEC L3 National extended cert in creative digital media production:Students of media will learn how to analyse existing media texts, ranging from TV, Film and the Internet, to newspapers, magazines, advertising and promotional material. They will focus on how different topics are represented in those texts, for example how Kidulthood represents issues of age, gender and ethnicity, or how the tabloid press represent social issues like youth crime or immigration. They will learn the skills required to produce a short film extract, as well as those of both working in a team and independently. In Year 13 students study in more detail the three industries of TV, Film and Newspapers looking at the relationship between text, industry and audience as well as completing a music video for their coursework. This course suits students who are interested in the media and who consume it themselves (eg watch films, TV, read the newspapers or interact on-line). Students need to be self motivated, be willing to give new things a go, be able to work independently and in a team, as well as be able to produce a high level of written analysis
