This is a practical, work related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area students have chosen, they also develop the skills they need to start a career. The course is made up of twelve units. The four mandatory units which everyone takes are: Principles of Acting, Performance Workshop, The Performing Arts Business and Performing to an Audience. The last unit contributes towards a major public production. There are also eight specialist units which enable students to study particular areas in depth, ranging from Devising Classical Theatre to Approaches in Directing and Theatre in Education. It is equivalent to two A levels leading to employment or higher education.
