This qualification is for you if you are aged 16-19 and want to work with animals either directly hands-on or within the wider allied services or businesses. It is designed to provide you with a wide range of specialist technical practical skills, together with detailed knowledge and understanding which will prepare you to for a diverse range of employment opportunities, or to apply for further learning and training within the animal care and management industries. On successful completion of the qualification, you will be awarded with either the; Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Animal Management (Zoos and Wildlife) (720) Or Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Animal Management (Animal Management and Applied Science) (720) This qualification provides you with the opportunity to learn about and build on the essentials of working with animals. You will learn how to work safely with animals, be responsible for the planning and carrying out of animal husbandry, their health and handling together with their feeding and nutrition. You will also learn about animal behaviours, animal breeds and welfare, and animal biology. In the second year you will then opt to specialise in one of the following areas; zoos, wildlife, animal management or applied science. Students choosing the zoos and wildlife option will study the following areas - wildlife ecology and conservation, wildlife management and rehabilitation, exotic animal husbandry and zoological collections, plus you will study futher topics such as aquatics, avians or population surveys. These will prepare you for roles within wildlife settings or zoological collections.
