This qualification is for you if you want to work with animals, either directly hands-on or within the wider allied services and businesses. It is designed to provide you with a wide range of specialist technical practical skills, together with detailed knowledge and understanding which will prepare you for a diverse range of employment opportunities, or to apply for further learning and training within the animal care and management industries. This qualification provides you with the opportunity to learn about and build on the essentials of working with animals. You will learn how to work safely with animals, be responsible for the planning and carrying out of animal husbandry, their health and handling together with their feeding and nutrition. You will also learn about animal behaviour, animal breeds, welfare and business skills. In the second year you will then opt to specialise in one of the following areas; zoos, wildlife, animal management or applied science.
