All assessment is linear, with exams taking place at the end of the course 60% of the A-Level is assessed through non-exam assessment (Practical) and 40% through a written exam (theory) Component 1: Drama and Theatre Written exam - 3 hours This paper assesses student's knowledge and understanding of drama and theatre through: the study of two set plays - 25 marks each (50 marks in total) the analysis and evaluation of the work of live theatre makers - 30 marks Component 2: Creating Original Drama (Practical) This component assesses the process of creating devised drama and the performance. This work must be influenced by the work of a prescribed practitioner. Students must produce: Working notebook - 40 marks Devised performance - 20 marks 30% of the A-level Component 3: Making Theatre (Practical) This component assesses the practical and interpretation of 3 extracts of different plays. Theories and methods of a practitioner must be applied to extract 3 and this will be performed as a final piece. Students must complete a reflective report analysing and evaluation theatrical interpretation of all 3 extracts. Students must produce: Performance of extract 3 - 40 marks Reflective report - 20 marks 20% of A-level
