You may not choose BOTH English Literature and English Lang/Lit at A Level. • These courses allow you to use the skills you developed both in GCSE English Literature and English Language. • They differ from English Literature in that you study a wider range of texts, both literary and non-fiction (including the spoken word) and you do your own creative writing • Alongside literary analytical methods you will use methods from the science of linguistics • There will be more emphasis on making connections between texts • You will be required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all three literary genres: poetry, drama and prose In the course of your study, you will also: - create your own piece of original prose writing in an exam - choose your own text to compare with a set text through coursework - produce your own original non-fiction writing through coursework
