This course will follow the Signature syllabus for Level 1 in British Sign Language. This qualification is designed to enable you to communicate with deaf people in British Sign Language on a range of topics that involve simple everyday language use. This course is for beginners with no previous experience of the language. The course fee includes the assessment fee and learning materials. The qualification is divided into three units, each of which can be achieved separately. You will be required to undertake all three assessment modules. Unit BSL101 is internally assessed by the teacher. Units BSL102 and BSL103 are externally assessed by a Signature assessor.Unit 101 topics include meeting people, using numbers,weather, transport and directions.Unit 102 topics include At home -people, animals and objects, using numbers, interests and activities, weather.Unit 103 topics include getting around, exchanging information, refreshments, using numbers. Yes, subject to tutor's approval (up to 2 weeks after start of course) . Signature Level 1 Award in British Sign Language. The specification has been designed to be consistent with the National Language Standards at Level 1.
