This qualification develops the skills knowledge and competence required of an individual to work in an unsupervised capacity with older frailer adults and disabled adults to plan and deliver chair-based exercise. On completion you will be able to work in many facilities such as nursing homes care homes and in community groups. You will study the theory and practice of health related fitness exercises and how to deliver activity sessions suitable for frailer older clients and disabled adults covering the following: 1. The main physiological changes that occur to the body systems as a result of the ageing process 2. Screening tests that can be used to determine readiness to exercise for older people and disabled people3. The referral routes available for people unable to exercise4. How to deliver a safe and effective prescribed programme of chairbased exercise to older frailer adults and disabled adultsTo enrol on this course you need no other qualifications. There is no prerequisite for this course; however a background in either working with the target groups in adult social care or fitness instructing will be beneficial.
