The A Level comprises three units. In ‘Government and Politics in the UK’ you will explore the nature of the British constitution, devolution, the roles of Parliament, Prime Minister, cabinet and judiciary. You will also consider how citizens can be involved in the practical processes of democracy such as through voting, political parties, pressure groups and protest movements. In ‘The Government and Politics of the USA’ you will complete an in-depth study of the political systems and processes of America with an emphasis on comparison to Britain. Finally, in ‘Political Ideas’ you will learn about a range of ideologies such as liberalism, conservatism, socialism, feminism and anarchism.
