Aims of the course: The Performing Arts is one of our country's most exciting and successful industries. It also provides a huge range of career prospects, and post Higher Education employment opportunities are consistently among the highest of any subject area. This course is designed to be practical, engaging and analytical. You will have opportunities to examine drama and the work of others, to explore a range of drama as a practical art form, and to work independently to create your own drama performances making informed artistic choices. Outline of the course: There are 3 components to the course: Study of drama practitioners and devising original work inspired by their work, exploring a range of texts as a performer or a designer and gaining knowledge and understanding of performing, design and directing, assessed in a written exam. The course is 2 years long with the first year preparing you for the practical and written assessments in the final year. Key Skills and Progression: Thorough preparation for entering higher education, developing creative thinking and independent learning skills. Your range and skill as a performer will increase as will your understanding of drama and theatre. The nature of the course demands that you develop a rigorous approach to time and self-management. You will become very disciplined and far more confident and imaginative, enabling you to solve problems creatively. Communication and collaboration are inherent in every aspect of the course and are hugely valued by all employers regardless of their business.
