Government & Politics, A Level

UPDATED 20161012 15:06:52

Government and Politics at OSFC is the study of power; who has it and why. On this course you will develop the ability to interpret political information and hone your analytical skills by evaluating political knowledge. You will look to create careful and considered arguments about who has the power and authority to make significant political decisions. You will also study traditional political ideologies in depth focusing on Liberalism, Socialism and Conservatism and their very different perceptions on the state, the economy, freedom and the individual. Building on this you will explore other more recent political traditions such as Feminism, Ecologism and nationalism and consider the foundations and objectives of these alternative ideologies. You will be supported by experienced tutors to understand politics more clearly and you will be given the opportunity to visit political arenas such as Parliament and local councils.
