The AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. Students will become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications, and gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategy, construction and presentation of complex management accounting reports. Students will also learn about specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit management and cash and treasury management. This qualification comprises four mandatory units and two specialist units from a choice of five. This is one of the four mandated units, it consolidates and applies the knowledge and understanding gained from the other three mandatory Level 4 units to the analysis of an accounting system. Students will undertake an evaluation of an accounting system to identify and assess weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement having regard for cost/benefit, sustainability and the impact of those recommendations on users of the accounting system. This module should be the last of the four mandated modules to be attempted as the synoptic assessment, which covers areas from all four mandated modules will be attempted at the end of this module.Each unit of the full qualification is studied and assessed separately and each unit may take up to 16 weeks. Successful completion of all units will result in a Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) being awarded by the AAT.
