Both theory and practical will be taught over the 25 weeks of the course. You will practice on each other and carry out assessments on a range of clients, covering a range of client needs. The qualification is recognised by the industry and the sector skills and will allow for insurance and employment to be gained. The course is achieved through continuous assessments, case studies, mandatory exams, workbooks and a portfolio of evidence. The course develops practical application of massage skills, consultation and treatment planning, anatomy and physiology, health and safety, home and after care advice for a range of clients. The following units are covered: Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon - you will be able to carry out a risk assessment and able to monitor health and safety in the workplace. Provide body massage - you will be able to prepare yourself and the treatment area in a professional manner. You will be able to carry out a body massage to meet client objectives and give appropriate aftercare advice. Client care and communication in beauty-related industries - you will be able to communicate and behave in a professional manner when dealing with clients. You will be able to manage client expectations.The course develops practical application of massage skills, consultation and treatment planning in the colleges commercial salon. Theoretical knowledge that underpins the course is delivered using a wide variety of teaching styles to meet the expectations of different learners. The body systems will be explored in anatomy and physiology, legal requirement plus how to comply with health and safety legislation will be covered in both theory and practical.Candidates can progress into other areas of the beauty therapy industry or complementary therapy industry, and/or directly into employment or self employment with this qualification.
